You see, Granddad knew his grandson's dog Snoopy had been feeling poorly and that he'd be coming to heaven to join him soon. He needed to make sure everything was ship shape for Snoopy's arrival.
You read that right. LOL When our family members make their journey ahead of us to heaven, they continue working on the promise made by our heavenly Father, "to prepare a place for us" and the family pets.
Granddad T had been working several years on preparing a place for his family when they all come to join him. He'd gotten all the lakes, ponds woods and fields just as they'd been before on Smith Lane in rural NC on earth. (Just a little grander)
One thing that's never discussed though, is all our furry family members join us there in heaven as well.
Rounding the edge of the woods just where the huge field begins Grandad lets out a long loud whistle. You guessed it!!! What appeared as a pristine green field was suddenly full of every sort of farm animal you could imagine. Not to mention all the forest creatures that ever lived and breathed there at Smith acres.
Giving a loud Helloooo suddenly even the animals were outnumbered by what looked like a million generations of Smiths'. With all the people and animals gathered in this massive field you'd think the noise would have been deafening. Nopes you could hear a pin drop. Granddad T walked to the middle of the congregation and said, "Ok everyone, this is my Grandson Tommy's dog, Snoopy joining us today. As you all know this is going to be his first day here in heaven. Let's give him a warm welcome , and then let the party begin. Tonight we can all gather at the big house and have a big ole' Smith family Cookout. Then we can listen to him tell us all about his boy Tommy, and their family".
Just as the words left Granddad's mouth, before everyone's eyes appeared the cutest little tri-colored Beagle puppy you'd ever seen. ( You see, when all dogs get to heaven, they become healthy, young puppies once again. They forget about all the aches and pains that went with getting older back on earth) Snoopy walked up to Granddad T, gave him a sniff, and said, "I don't know you but you certainly do seem familiar".
Sitting down in the green meadow surrounded by centuries of Smith's and every animal that had ever lived on the Smith farms, Granddad T said, "Snoopy, I'm your boys Grandfather, and when you have the time, I'd love for us to sit down and you tell me all about him.
You see I met your boy when he had just been born". Snoopy looked at his hooman's Grandfather and said, "Noo wayy...." Granddad T, laughed and said, "Yups, way.", Then he said, Snoopy, "life is full of blessings if you open your heart to see them. I had a wonderful life when I was on earth. I had an amazing family and dear friends. My biggest blessing was just as I was running out of heartbeats, I got to meet my grandson, (your boy). He'd just been born.
I spend a lot of time up here watching over all my family and friends on the big screen TV at the big house. You can join me anytime you'd like to check on your family back on earth." Snoopy gave a big Beagle grin and said, "Granddad, I'd really like that".
"By the way, I heard my son Josh say you were an amazing tracker. The rabbits here are as big as ponies and they run forever. Don't ever worry about getting lost when you're on their trail. Whenever you get tired and stop to take a breath, you'll find yourself back home in front of your bed and food bowl.
Welcome to heaven dear Snoopy."
