After my teeth cleaning tummy issues it had gotten so very hot (and stayed hot) Mom went ahead and got my summer haircut. I was miserable on our walks and was dragging and panting all the way home. This worked well for all of about two weeks.
Winter reared its ugly head once again. My family hit the hibernation mode. The walkies didn't completely stop, but they certainly did become less frequent. It got cold , really cold, and then the rains came, and came. Mom had to break out my winter jacket once again as I had no hair to speak of to keep me warm. After that she had to pull out my winter pj.s
Mom's not a big shopper, so it's difficult to determine when she'll get that bee in her bonnet. It's guaranteed if I get sick Mom or Dad (most of the time both) don't leave my side. I'm blessed with pawrents that love me and take the best possible care of me. I knew Mom needed to take care of the shopping while I was sick, but she and Dad decided they could put that off until I felt better.
One morning the folks started going through the we're leaving the house routine. Most of the time, during the cooler months I always go with my Mom and Dad where ever they go. If pups can't go inside one of my pawrents stay in the car with me. This time things were different. Mom turned the Christmas music on Pandora. After that the cincher, she put my blanket on the kitchen floor and moved my crate into the kitchen.
Routines dear furiends we pups know them better than anyone. Mom told me Molly, while you were sick I put off doing a lot of things that needed to be done. You're better now, and I've got to do some shopping. I'll be back soon.
I'm a pup that feels my life's calling is to protect those I love. I know in my heart of hearts something terrible is going to happen to my Mom and Dad while they're not under my watchful eye. I wasn't happy with their decision to leave me home, but routines dear pawfuriends routines. My pawrents always come back home to me when they leave me alone, and they ALWAYS bring me new yellow squeaky balls. Today was no exception.
Just as Spring follows winter every time we return from a walk Mom and I have our routine. She takes a break on the computer, writing my blogs, or working on our pictures. I Molly, climb the steps to my puppy perch, look out the window and take a little nap while resting on my soft clean blankets.
Routines pawfuriends, they're the stuff life is made of.
Love, Molly and my Mom
