Southern Snow

It's the stuff of comedy routines in other parts of the U.S.  With the infiltration of snow-birds that move for the warmer climate and end up staying there's a take or leave it kind of attitude.  With my Mom a diehard southerner born and bred snow warrants a lifted eyebrow and a trip to the store for a few tasty special meals and to buy extra toilet paper.  No run for the bread or milk aisle as there's always extra bread in the freezer.

This is supposed to be the snow of all snows this time.  They're calling for 5-7 inches.  Possibly more in places.  We'll see how that all works out.

Mom and Dad are coving a place in the yard for me to take care of personal business.  (5-7 inches is almost taller than I am so we can see the importance in that)  They're getting the generator out and filling it with gas as well as extra gas (the news is mentioning the possibility of power outages, which is a big deal period, but with the low being projected at 3 degrees one morning is rather serious).

~SIGH~   My question has been Mom we're still going on walkies right???  Mom doesn't say much when I ask.  You all know how much I love my walkies and I know my woods and fields will be beautiful dressed in a winter blanket of fresh fallen snow.  Mom secretly has plans of finding some way to pull me behind her as she hikes through the snow, but hasn't come up with a concrete idea of how to go about it yet.  (Yups us pups can read our pawrents minds)  ;-)

We know most the neighbors here in our little part of the south are hoping for no snow.  Mom and I not so much, a little snow would be appreciated.  Just enough to be pretty for a couple of days and add a little spice to our 2017.

Keep us die hard southerners in your prayers dear furiends as we're typically a snow free zone and it's been a longgg time since this part of the south has seen 3 degrees.
Wishing you all a wonderful 2017 and praying you're not seeing 3 degrees and snow.

It's a sad thing if we can't laugh at ourselves every now and then.  Here's a little grin for you at a Southerns expense.  (Thanks for the share Auntie Barbara).

Molly, do you still have time to buy a sled before the heavy snowfall? It would be fun you sitting on the sled and your mom pulling it. Stay warm.

Hi Hobo and family,

Mom tried to get me a sled but they were all sold out almost as soon as the deep snow was forecast. Yups this much snow is a real rarity here in NC and novelty items like sleds get gone fast.

Mom's come up with a plan to pull me around in a storage bin. (I think she's trying to keep me from jumping out into the deep snow).

Trust me, you are going to be fine. Stay inside until it stops and then make sure your parents don't work too hard. I don't know about walkies but I can see you hopping around in the snow until you are completely covered with little snowballs

Yups we're all good here Angel Foley and Girls,

Mom has kept me inside except for my potty breaks and I'm becoming a bit restless. She's got plans on getting outside a little more today as the snow has stopped falling... We'll see how that all goes. :-D Mom's hoping I don't jump out of the storage bin and start running across the yard and get full of snow burrs and balls.
