Down a Path Less Traveled

In the quite of the forest, there is rarely silence.  Today was no exception.  The wind in the trees sounded like the oceans waves.

Standing on the path attempting to determine which way my nose was going to take me I noticed an underlying forest melody I hadn't heard in a while. l listened a little more intently and...yes there it was.  I wasn't mistaken, I could hear the frogs singing their annual song heralding the arrival of spring. I felt an unexplainable sense of relief knowing that winter was almost over.

Shaking off my pensive mood I look at Mom and give her a wag of my tail and take the trail to the right.  I always enjoy taking this path as it goes deep into the forest and then simply stops.  There's a small clearing on a wooded hill that looks down farther into the forest.  As far as the eye can see it's nothing but rolling tree covered hills and valleys.

I being the fierce brave hunting dog that I am love all the scents I can follow as well as catching up on the goings on of old woodland furiends.  My nose leads us on a rather round about path, but we made our way to the small clearing. Mom and I stop and take in all the beauty that is around us.  The sunlight coming through the bare, naked trees painted the leaf covered ground in glowing shades of deep amber, beige, and chocolate brown. Mom and I are both quite taking in the beauty of our surroundings.  We share a thought as Mom and I often do.  Realizing there's no picture we could make that would capture the artistry of what we were seeing.

I once again get lost in the scents and trails of my forest fruiends.  I find a new path the deer have made leading down to a spot at the creek.  My nose takes me down to the creek bed where I realize Mr. Raccoon and Opossum have been looking for dinner.

As our hike continues I make my rounds to all my favorite spots.  I stop by the abandoned fox den, just checking to see if Mr. Foxy's moved back.  Nopes not yet.  I stop by the turkey family's high rise, but they've moved out as well.  The forest landlord must be going up on the rent as all my furiends have found new homes.

It's been a wonderful walk today.  Mom and I both have enjoyed it as we've had the early spring storms that tend to happen here in our part of the south, making walks a rare occurrence the past few days.  Mom gives me the "Look" that lets me know we need to start heading back towards home.  I choose to take the trail home through the woods instead of down the hay field, as the March winds have started a bit early this year.

It's a quite walk home, Mom and I  both lost in our thoughts.  Me thinking of how lucky I am to live here in the country with a family that enjoys the outdoors as much as I do.

Once again this fierce brave hunting doggy has made her way through the thick and wild jungle on a tracking expedition, through dangerous enemy territory.  It's time to get my snack, lie in the sun and take my much deserved nap.

Enjoy your adventures dear furiends, and enjoy your naps in the sunshine.

Technical Difficulties

Little Molly has been working away with her imaginative fantasy artwork. She has just uploaded page 6 today.

At times there's behind the scenes struggles and technical issues that one never knows about simply visiting her website. Today was a stellar example of "if something can go wrong it will".

Mom simply hates updating her browser. She uses Firefox so that should tell you volumes. Every-time you turn around there's a new update. If you're like Mom you have all kinds of add-ons making your browsing experience something similar to driving a luxury sedan. Mom gets  her browser exactly like she likes it and she never updates again until something drastic happens.

Welllll today something drastic happened. BOL Wouldn't you just know it? Seeing as how I have no opposable thumbs Mom was working away designing my page for my new picture page. Suddenly the browser locks up and Mom can't go forward or backwards...Yups you guys guessed it. Mom had to get on another tab, and live chat to get a tech. guy at the web host to unlock her page. He told her the reason the page editor locked was because her browser was (drum roll please) are you ready for this? 20 updates behind!!! Ohhh yeah! That's my Momsie. You gotta love her.

Sooo anywayyyy the entire situation wasn't over when Mom updated her browser. The page was still locked and couldn't be edited and Mom had to contact the web host once again. After some blood, sweat, no tears but a LOT of frustration my new picture page is up.
Hope you stop by and take a look. (If for no other reason than because the old girl had to struggle to get this one up BOL )

Winter Day Dreams

It's been cold here in our part of the south for the past several weeks.  This along with Mom's healing Boo Boo toe has translated to slim to no walkies for me.  If I can be candid for a moment, "I've found it a bit boring".  There are studies that prove that we pups get as depressed as our hoomans, and I  can vouch  this is true.  I am one pup that when deprived of my cherished walks though my forest and fields become DEPRESSED.

As one day with no walks melded into another and then days into one week andd another week, I began to sleep in front of my French door and take fabulous adventures  in my dreams.

Angel Foley was aware of my Mom's toe surgery and told me to be prepared to not go on as many walks as I had in the past.  She also said she'd come and visit me in my dreams while Mom's toe was healing and she'd see to it I stayed entertained.  Despite all hoomans bravado they are a helpless lot and my Mom is no exception.

One dream I remember in particular involved  Angel Foley coming by my house riding a beautiful blue dragon by the name of Fred.  Foley and Fred landed on my back deck with Foley proceeding to knock on my French door (honestly bangs is more like the truth) yelling my name at the top of her voice.  I run to the door asking if she realizes she's going to wake up my Mom and Dad.  She simply laughs and says, "Molly hoomans can't hear or see me".  I look at her in astonishment and say, "Really?" Really she replies.  Welll...what about the dragon?  They can't possibly miss a dragon on the back deck".  Foley, a bit exasperated by my inexperience with how day dreams transpire lets out a sigh and says, "Molly, do you want to sit here and quibble over the little details or would you like to go on an adventure?" That was a rather easy decision considering how long I'd been trapped inside.  From that point on I was simply along for the ride.  Pawfuriends let me tell you, it was honestly some ride.

If you don't know Angel Foley she is a tiny little Yorkie that is a tremendous force of nature.  She is as fierce as any Dachshund I've ever met.  More determined than any pup you'll ever meet, and she has a heart that's pure gold.

Her mission in her after life, is to watch over all her furiends that are here on the mortal side, and she swears in all the pups that cross over Rainbow Bridge.  She lives in a different realm than we pups here on earth. That being said, when Angel Foley says she's going to take you on an adventure, she's going to take you to universes you've never dreamed existed; and she's going to take you on the back of a dragon.

Simply getting on Fred's back was a big enough adventure for me.  You have to keep in mind he's huge.  Foley took my hand and led me to Fred's side.  He gently put out his tremendous paw and carefully lifted us onto his back.  There were seatbelts between his shoulder blades.  Fred told us,  "Ok kids buckle up".

With one flap of Fred's wings we were up over the treetops here in my little part of rural NC.  Looking down I was surprised at how small my home appeared.  In a couple of more flaps we were far up into the milky way.

Foley leaned close into Fred's ear and I saw him nod his head.  Cupping her paws in my direction Foley yelled over the noise of the wind, "Hold on tight we're going moon beam fishing.  I give her a quizzical look, but braced myself for a landing. All things considered, seeing as how I'd never rode a dragon before I found the landing fairly comfortable.  It was nice not having the wind whistling in my ears and blowing through my whiskers.

Fred helps us down and tells us he'll be taking off in about an hour. Foley gives him a wave and says,  "We'll be back soon".  Taking me by the hand she runs down a path smiling with the joy of our grand adventure.  Looking at me she ask, "What do you think of your day dream Molly?"

I look at my furiend with new found respect and admiration.  Being a simple country pup who finds indescribable pleasure sniffing though  fields looking for mice, moles and bunnies, a dragon ride though the milky way to go moon beam fishing was something out of a fairy tale. I reply," Foley, This adventure is something dreams are made of".  Angel Foley simply smiled and said come down to the ocean Molly, you'll never believe what you're going to see".

I run down the path following her until we get to the ocean and then I see my dear furiend Angel Foley catching moon beams in a jar.  She turns and smiles, "Pick up that jar.  Catch yourself some moon beams".

After some time had passed and we had walked farther down the beach suddenly we looked up in time to see a little boy swinging over the ocean on the moon.  I look at Foley and said, "I thought this was our dream Angel Foley, "  Foley replied, Molly, the magic of dreams is what helps us all (humans and pups)  get through the difficult times in our lives, it's what connects us.

Waking up from my dream, I looked at my Mom and wondered, where do her dreams take her, as I realized, no walkies might be boring for my Mom too.
