A Perfect Gotcha Day

Occasionally all the earth and heavens elements fall into alignment, and my Gotcha Day weekend was the perfect time for this to happen, Molly thought with a smile.  It was wonderful that so many furiends showed up at my Gotcha Day Pawty at Tanner Brigade.  Molly laughed thinking of the antics of Wylie, Rosco, Lou ee, and Angel Foley.  It was a superb celebration.

Even the weather has been on my side Molly reflected. It's been stellar weather for chasing squirrels and digging for moles.  These past few days it's been almost like the squirrels know this is a red letter weekend for me.  They have gone out of their way to tease me into chasing them.

Letting out a happy ~sigh~ Molly realized there wasn't anything more that could possibly make her happier.  (Well only if Dad hadn't had to work today she thought to herself) I've had extra rations of buffalo, I've gone on a car ride, I've gotten new Squeaky balls and I've gotten to spend tons of time outside on walks chasing squirrels.

Grinning in anticipation of tomorrows events Molly scratches a nest in her soft clean blankets.  With Halloween being my Gotcha Day I know Mom and Dad will take me on another car ride.  They'll stock up on snacks and sandwich stuff and we'll watch old Vampire and Dracula movies until way in the night.  I'll get to scooch up with the pawrents on the couch, be thankful for life with my family, and my very special Gotcha Day.  Here's praying every pup gets a special family and a wonderful Gotcha Day Celebration.

Love,

Molly and my Mom

Looking Like Fall

Crunching  down the driveway Molly noticed all the gold, brown and russet leaves that seemed to have fallen overnight.  Ahhh she thought to herself as a smile lit up her face,  "My favorite time of the year".  Beginning to pant from the still warm temperatures, Molly said, "Thankfully cooler weather is just around the corner". Turning the bend in the drive Molly looked across the field day dreaming of hikes through the Autumn colored woods.  There's nothing like country life in the fall.

With it really being too hot to walk to the pond and sniff for frogs along the banks, she sat down in the cool shade of the old oak tree to do some reflecting.  As she sat listening to the sounds of the acorns falling through the branches, they would occasionally hit a limb and sound like rifle shots giving her a start.  The wind blowing through the trees, quiet and peaceful with the occasional whisper of leaves falling.  It was the perfect time to think about her upcoming Gotcha Day.

I've been with Mom and Dad for almost five years now. Halloween will be my fifth Gotcha Day.  Maybe this is why I love fall and Halloween so much.  Grinning in anticipation of the pawty her pawrents were having to celebrate her big day, Molly decided she was one lucky pup.  I don't have to get into the car and travel to a park to walk in a forest.  I have a home with pawrents that love me and take care of my every need.  My Birthdays and Gotcha Days are never forgotten and are cause for a celebration here at my house.

Giving a yawn in the comfortably warm shade of the old oak, Molly came to a simple realization, I'm glad I'm a dog that is so very loved.  With an amused smile on her face, Molly thought to herself, I don't care about the blogs Mom writes about me, the pictures she makes , the Twitter feed or the FaceBook page, I'm simply glad I am a dog lucky enough to be so loved.

Happy fall dear furiends and may we pray that every dog gets a Happy Gotcha Day.

Love, Molly and my Mom

A Moment in the Sunshine

As most of our followers know Mom and I hail from NC.  Our brush with hurricane Matthew was nothing compared to FL, or even the coast of NC.  It was enough however to keep us trapped inside for a couple of days, giving us time to reflect and miss the beauty of the outdoors.

On the backside of the storm we've had some wonderful fall temp's providing Mom and I with the opportunity to once again resume our hikes around the farm and woods.

The folks had some business to take care of in town today.  That took up most of the morning.  Needless to say I was eager to get out the door and enjoy the outside when the pawrents  got home.  Mom needed a break as well, she's like me and more of a country girl.

As we broke through the trees and stepped out into the warm sunshine Mom and I both let out a contented sigh.  The gentle hum of the insects in the freshly cut field provided a quiet melody along with the chatter of the birds in the forest beside the path.  It was indeed a much needed moment in the sunshine.

Mom and I talked about the situations in life that try and take your focus off of your moments in the sunshine.  You can let life steal your sunshine, or you can take both hands and hold on to it with all you've got.  We decided life is full of choices, you can have faith in the storm, or you can put your faith in the sunshine that comes after the storm.

We as a family have had a challenging year, Mom and Dad with their health issues, me with mine, but we have each other and we know that as surely as the storms and  hurricanes come there's sunshine on the other side.

Hold on to your sunshine dear furiends that's what we've decided to do.

Love,

Molly and my Mom
