Christmas Angels

When you're a pup with a house at Tanner Brigade you learn things you thought were so all your life really aren't.  That's right you learn that when a furiend dies, they don't reallly die, and when they made their trip to Rainbow Bridge this gives them special powers that enables them to visit you in your dreams, be you asleep or awake and even affect the physical realm of life.

My family's Christmas was somewhat different this year.  Dad and Mom both had the flu and as fate would have it I ended up with an ear infection.  Yups not the best of times for everyone to end up feeling a bit under the weather.

One thing about my Mom, she's a force of nature that you simply can't ignore when it comes to Christmastime.  She's not going to let anything like a flu bug keep her family from not having a wonderful Christmas.  (You know the type, shoulder to the plow and all that).  Day and Night Mom was getting the house decorated, cooking Christmas goodies no one would be able to taste due to the flu ruining  peoples taste buds and appetite. Mom trudged on like the good Christmas soldier she is.

The big day arrived and we opened our gifts and ate our feast.  None of us really felt a lot of joy during this holiday season.  After we opened our last gift Dad said well, we need to run to the post office, there's a package that needs to be picked up.
I Molly perked up my ears.  A package needing to be picked up typically means something for me.  This thought brought a smile to my face.  Now who would be sending me a package, I thought to myself.   We all got our jackets and hats on and away we went to the post office.

Dad gets back into the car and sure enough I'm a pup who's nose knows that is a package for me.  I could barely control my excitement.  I think my unbridled joy at the thought of a Christmas surprise truly put my folks in the Christmas spirit.  There's nothing that can put Christmas in someones heart like watching a loved one 's excitement and suspense over a gift.  I thought we'd never get home!  Finally we make it home and get inside, I told Mom to hurry and get my jacket and harness off of me now!!!  I was dying to open my gift and see who had sent me a surprise Christmas gift.

I did my best to rip open that bubble wrapped package to no avail.  (Mom was laughing at my attempts the entire time.  Already my Christmas angel was making my one real Christmas wish come true.  Earlier I had said a prayer that my family and I would all feel better by Christmas)  Mom opens the mailing envelope for me and inside are two pressies wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper just for me.  Mom puts the gifts on the floor and away I go ripping and scratching for all I'm worth.  I know I was smiling and Mom and Dad laughing like not a one of us was sick or feeling poorly. (Of course Mom was taking pictures the entire time).

It was thanks to my Christmas Angel that the magic of the season truly was in our home and in our hearts in the midst of our flu bugs and ear infections this Christmas day.

Dear Angel you know who you are and we are so thankful that in the land of Tanner Brigade all pups go to heaven, but no pups truly die, they simply live on a different plane and become very special Christmas Angels.

We're sharing a few of those pictures my Mom snapped while I was opening my gift from my Christmas Angel, Thank you once again dear Angel.

Love, Molly and my Mom

Merry Christmas

I can tell now when Christmas time is close.  It's starts with the pawrents leaving me at home more often when they go out, and upon their return there's lots of packages not for me.  Mom spends more time in the kitchen making wonderful smells I remember from the previous year about this same time.  Then there's the much dreaded Christmas haircut.  That's ALWAYS the clincher.  Yups just got that haircut this past week.  I won't be able to run through my woods and fields, dig for moles none of the things that bring a smile to my face until after the holidays.  To make matters even worse, Mom has pulled my red Christmas dress out of the closet. ~sigh~

The holidays are a special time of the year for us here at The Fast and the Furriest.  It's the time of the year Mom remembers loved ones that are no longer with us, and special friends who are.  The house is decorated inside and out in remembrance of holidays long past.  Christmas dinner preparations go on for weeks.

With all the preparations that are put into this one day, we never lose sight of the true meaning of this holiday season.  Christ the Savior was born on Christmas day.  Mom and Dad read this story every Christmas.  Click me here to read the Christmas story.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Love, Molly and my Mom

Christmas Crunch Reflections

Stepping out the door Molly noticed the chill in the air and gave her best tongue out smile.  It's getting chilly, just in time for Christmas she thought.  Looking at all the Christmas cards she was taking to the Canine Mail Box she frowned a bit as she looked at her watch.  I'm going to have to hurry so I don't miss the pickup time.

Trotting down the driveway to the Doggy box she went down the card list once again.  Nopes she said out loud," I didn't forget anyone".  Not even the grumpy grey coyotes that lived on the far side of the hayfield.  Molly and the clerk chit chatted a few mins. and then he asked her, "Have you got any mail going out of town."  "Well yes I do Molly said, "I've got some mail going to Fl. to my good furiends Hobo and Wylie Hudson, and I have some mail going to dear Pocket and River, Angel Foley's sisters".  The clerk nodded and said we're calling in extra Avine carries, "Your mail will make it on time Miss Molly".

With a smile on her face once again Molly stepped out of the Canine Post office, thinking what a wonderful day for a sniff through the hayfield.  Following her nose through the dead tall grass, Molly let the worries and stress of the holiday preparations slip away.  She could tell her bunny neighbors had gone out to eat the night before.  Molly smiled, remembering Mom and Dad bunny and their 3 babies from the past summer.

Thinking once again of the fast approaching Christmas Holiday Molly thought back to something her Mother had told her years ago,  "Christmas is a time of laying aside your differences with others, and acknowledging we are all the same.  Christ Our Savior was born to die for us all.  He gave the greatest gift He could give  out of love.  We owe it to Him, to lay down our differences with others if only during this very special time of the year, in honor of the birth of the Christmas child".

Looking down the hayfield Molly thought she saw two grey coyotes kissing under the mistletoe that grows in the top of the old oak tree.  Rubbing her eyes she looked once again, but only saw brown leaves blowing in the winter breeze.  With a bemused look on her face Molly said, "Maybe we're not that different after all".

Wishing you Peace and Joy in the middle of the Christmas Crunch
