Let me think a min., Tabby Cat what's been going on here at our house lately? Tabby washes his face and reflects a few mins. Giving a low purr he says, "The weather has gotten much nicer. We all have gotten to spend time outside. I've gotten to lie in the sunshine in my kitty condo. I've enjoyed watching the birds and the squirrels." Molly lets out a happy bark, "That's right Tabby. I've gotten to spend time outside digging for moles and sniffing for field mice in the hay field".
Mom and I both have been managing our health issues. I myself had to see the vetster concerning my SARDS. They've reduced my medications for my eyesight. I'll be making a new trip to get my vision checked in a couple of months. Mom's doing well controlling her diabetes. With all her walking there's the occasional pulled muscle and then the reduced exercising until things heal. She's just gotten back to 4 and a quarter miles per day. Not bad for a 60 year old if I do say so myself.
Life's gone on as it typically does. Friends have had new babies. Which is very exciting, older friends have developed serious health issues. Yups life goes on as it usually does.
Mom likes to read the news every morning. We chat about the good and the bad that's reported on a daily basis during our walks. This is the time we both enjoy the most.
Lately we've been talking about some of the more distressing things she's been seeing in the news. Though we both truly do understand "there's nothing new under the sun" we are still taken aback by some of the things that are reported.
After a few seconds of silently reflecting on the good and the bad of the day Mom and I remembered the verse " Matthew 12:35
The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure.
This reminds Mom of a story she's never forgotten, told her by a dear friend many years ago, who's now gone on to glory. (RIP Tommy)
A little boy was being chastised by his father for doing something he shouldn't have done. After his father had said his piece he asked his son if he had anything to say for himself. After a few min.s of silence the little boy said, Dad, "it's like I have two dogs inside me. One Bad (who chooses to do the things he shouldn't) and one Good ( who chooses to do only kind things). They fight alll the time... His father asked him "Son, which one wins the battles," the little boy said, "The one I feed the most".
Let's remember to feed only the force inside us that desires to do good. There's enough people already feeding their evil desires. In a world where we can be anything, may we choose to be kind.
Love and Peace,
Molly, Tabby and our Mom
