Molly sat on the couch gazing at the Christmas tree with sleepy eyes. It wasn't Thanksgiving yet but Molly had grown used to her Mom's routines.
Remembering holidays past Molly thought back to her small house full to bursting with the 3 decorated trees looking so festive. The large country cupboard in the living room with beautiful Christmas decorations, even a stocking bearing Molly's name. Her Mom outside decorating the house and the yard to where none of her forest friends could miss that it was holiday time here at this house.
These are the routines that herald the changing of the seasons as surely as the falling of the leaves, and the majestic oaks dropping its acorns as food for the creatures of the forest.
Mom and Dad have gotten older so there's not as many visitors to see the fruits of her family's labors, but these annual traditions always bring a warm glow to Molly's heart.
Scooching down deeper into the soft blanket Molly looks under the tree at Tabby Cat sleeping in the glowing twinkle of the Christmas tree lights and smiles.
I must be getting older thinks little Molly. I understand what Mom has said all these years. Holidays are not about what you have, your decorations, or who shows up, or even what you serve for your holiday meals. Holidays are about what's in your heart and what you share with others.
Molly lets out a contented sigh, thankful for a Mom that always has the Christmas tree up by Thanksgiving and never lets her forget that it's the little things you do that mean the most.
Wishing all our friends and furiends a wonderful Holiday season for the staff here @ The Fast and the Furriest.
Love, Molly and my Mom
