Not meaning to rehash old news, (but more to make known to the new reader), Mom went to the ER and got medication for her infected toe. Mom gets home pops her antibiotic and smiles a huge smile of relief.
She and I couldn't have been happier. Both of us thinking that surely now in a couple of days we'd be back hiking the woods and fields here in our little spot of country heaven.
The next day after three doses of medication, indeed Mom and I were out and about exploring and catching up on two weeks' worth of scents and sights in 1 hike. Oh yes my furiends, we were making up for lost time. We both knew there was magic in those pills, and to be honest there was at least for one day.
There's nothing wrong dear reader in believing in magic. Magic gives hope to the spirit, and inspiration to the soul. It gave Mom and I a walk outside on a cool crisp winter day after two weeks of being trapped inside.
I went where my nose lead me with my Mom happy to follow. Both enjoying the exploration. We came upon deer resting in forest thickets, startling them into a burst of flight. The browns and grays of the winter woods a perfect camouflage for their wintertime coats.
Mom and I stayed quiet and still. We saw the small herd stop several feet away, watching to see if we would give chase. After several mins they all relaxed and began to forage for food. Awhile later they slowly walked away looking for new places for lunch.
Magic is where you find it. That day Mom and I found it first in her antibiotic, and then we found it in the beauty of our forest and a herd of deer.
Wishing you all a walk filled with magic.
Love, Molly and my Mom
